Demetria Joyce is the Director of Early Childhood Strategy Implementation at the Bainum Family Foundation where she leads initiatives that improve accessibility, quality and affordability of early childhood services. Additionally, she informs and supports research and evaluation of projects to measure the impact and effectiveness of early childhood initiatives. Demetria formerly led the Early Childhood Policy Fellowship at Bank Street College of Education. Prior to that she worked as a Senior Policy Analyst at the University of Wisconsin where she supported state agency leaders in the development of policies, resources, and services aimed at promoting equitable learning opportunities for young children. Additionally, Demetria spent most of her career at the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL) where she served as the state administrator overseeing the Geargia Early Learning and Development Standards, curriculum, assessment and instruction. While at DECAL, she also worked in the role of a Georgia Pre-K Consultant. Prior to working in state policy and engaging in systems level work, Demetria served as a Georgia Pre-K teacher and school administrator. Demetria is a Doctoral Candidate at Valdosta State University and is also an advanced credentialed systems thinking facilitator.
